Mount Monument is a winery, restaurant and sculpture park in the foothills of Mount Macedon near Romsey, about ten minutes from Hanging Rock. It is owned by the Katsalidis family; Nonda Katsalidis is one of Australia's most celebrated architects, responsible for MONA, Eureka Tower and Australia 108.
The estate grows Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Riesling on volcanic soils, guided by organic principles, with under-vine cultivation instead of herbicides and hand pruning. A new terrace vineyard was begun in 2020. Shiraz, Sangiovese, Greco and Grenache come from growers in Heathcote, 60 kilometres north.
The cellar door, vineyard restaurant and the family's art collection, which spills across the grounds as an outdoor sculpture park, draw visitors from Melbourne and beyond.
