Parker Estate is a family-owned Coonawarra winery founded on the vision of John Parker, who in 1985 planted the 16-hectare Abbey Vineyard on Coonawarra's famous terra rossa soil. That vineyard is still at the heart of the estate: the most suitable varieties and clones, grown on the best soils, to make the best possible wines.
Chief winemaker Andrew Hardy has more than four decades of experience. After studying oenology he joined Brian Croser at Petaluma in 1982 and made wine there across South Australia's premium regions for nearly forty years. Vigneron Brett Williams, raised on a farm, established his first vineyard in the mid-1990s, and the winemaking team has more than seventy years of combined experience.
Parker Estate is a Halliday five red star winery and accredited by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. Its limestone cellar door stands among forty-year-old vines at the southern tip of the terra rossa strip, just north of Penola.
