Vinea Marson is a Heathcote producer founded by Mario Marson, one of Australia's most experienced winemakers and viticulturists, who now works alongside his daughter Madeleine. Winemaking was a family tradition, from the backyard in suburban Melbourne to the family farm in Friuli that Mario first visited as a child.
Mario spent more than 40 years in the Yarra Valley and Heathcote, including 17 years as winemaker and viticulturist at the renowned Mount Mary with the late Dr John Middleton. Vinea Marson is known for Italian varieties grown in Heathcote, especially Sangiovese, alongside its heritage wines.
The 2021 Sangiovese was ranked number 44 in James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of Australia 2025. The winery also puts vineyard waste to use, working with local cheesemakers.
